Update OnePlus 2 to Android 7.1.1 Nougat HydrogenOS Firmware

OnePlus is quite late on pushing Nougat OTA with all the Beta releases for the OnePlus 3/3T. This will trigger a lot to OnePlus 2 user. Recently, OnePlus released OxygenOS 3.5.8 for the OnePlus 2 without Nougat System update. However, fret not, an unofficial HydrogenOS 2.5 ROM based on Android 7.1.1 Nougat is now available for the OnePlus 2. So, OnePlus 2 owner can now test the new upcoming Android N HydrogenOS with a flashable zip of 598 Mb.

Many things in this ROM were tweaked with mods and are included by default. It provides all the Android 7.1.1 Nougat features and a great battery life on your device. To Remember :
  • This tutorial is only for installing Android 7.1.1 HydrogenOS Nougat ROM on OnePlus 2. Please do not try on any other OnePlus variants.
  • Your phone should have a custom recovery installed in order to install this RR ROM on your phone.
  • We will be using TWRP Recovery for this tutorial.
  • This tutorial will wipe out all your data. Make sure you backup all your data in your phone before proceeding.
  • Perform a Dalvik Cache wipe before proceeding from the Recovery Mode.

HOW TO: Install Android 7.1.1 HydrogenOS Nougat ROM on OnePlus 2

We have put together a detailed step-by-step installation procedure so that the first time users does not face any problem. If you are used to installing custom ROMs with TWRP recovery, then this should not be any different for you. Please read every step carefully so that your installation goes smooth without facing any problem.

As I mentioned earlier, you need to have a custom recovery (TWRP for this tutorial) installed on your phone. Please do that first and then get back to this tutorial. Make sure you read this tutorial once before actually performing it on your device.

Step 1: Download Android 7.1.1 HydrogenOS 2.5 Nougat ROM ROM and GApps for OnePlus 2 to your computer.

Step 2: Connect and mount your OnePlus 2 USB memory to your computer using the USB cable.

Step 3: Now copy/paste the downloaded HydrogenOS Nougat ROM zip and Google Apps zip files to your phone memory. Make sure the files are in the phone memory root (not in any folder).

Step 4: Then turn OFF your phone and disconnect from the USB cable.

Step 5: Now to get in the Recovery Mode. Switch ON the phone while pressing and holding Volume Down + Power buttons together.

Step 6: Once you are in TWRP Recovery, perform a full data wipe by tapping on the ‘Wipe’ button. Then swipe on the “Swipe to Factory Reset” option at the bottom.

Step 7: Now go back to the main menu and then tap on the ‘Install’ button. From the list, choose the ZIP file that you copied to your phone memory in Step 3.

Step 8: Confirm installation on the next screen by swiping on the “Swipe to Confirm Flash” option. The installation procedure should start now.
Google Apps: Once the ROM installation is completed, repeat the above steps from Step 7 to Step 8 for the Google Apps zip file as well and install it on your phone.
Step 9: Tap on the “Wipe cache/dalvik” button if you get into any boot loops or other issues.

Step 10: You can now reboot your phone by selecting the “Reboot System” button.

Your OnePlus 2 will boot now and it might take about 5 minutes to boot on your first time after flashing a new ROM. So, please wait.

That’s it! Your OnePlus 2 should now have HydrogenOS 2.5 Nougat ROM based on Android 7.1.1 Nougat installed on your phone! Go to Settings > About phone to verify.

To Remember :

Prerequisites

  • Download Mi Flash Unlock Tool zip file and extract it on your computer (desktop).
  • Open Setting of your phone and go to about phone. Tap on "Buid Number" 7 times to enable "Developers Option".
  • Go to "Developers Options" and tick "Allow OEM unlock" and "Android Debugging".

How to Unlock Xiaomi MI 5 Bootloader:

Step 1: Open the file "MiFlashUnlock.exe" from your desktop.

You will see a message in a new window like this:

"Sign in with your MI Account to unlock device."

Step 2: Create an MI account (If you don't have already) and login.

Step 3: Now the unlock process will start on your phone automatically and you’ll receive a message:
“You don’t have the permission to Unlock the device”.
Step 4: Click on “Go” button or go to this link to get the unlock permission.

Step 5: Now click on “Unlock Now” button and login with your Mi account you just created.
Unlock Bootloader

Step 6: Now wait until you get an OTP (one-time password) on your phone. It may take up to several days till you get the SMS. (Most of the time the SMS arrives in just a few hours).

Step 7: Now open the MI Flash Tool again on your computer and this time you’ll have the permission to unlock your Xiaomi Mi 5.

Step 8: Unlock your Xiaomi Mi 5 using the unlock tool.

That's it! Your Xiaomi MI 5 should now have Unlocked Bootloader. Switch Off and restart the phone.

Google has Officially released Android O OPP1 Developer Preview Factory Image for the Pixel phone. So, Pixel owner can now test the new upcoming Android O with a Factory Image officially provided by Google. This firmware is the first version of Android O with a major Google upgrade; the Pixel Smartphone will be seeing. This time Google especially focused on Efficiency, Battery Life and Multitasking. As this is just an initial Developer Preview release, it may contain some bugs, and all the Android O features are not Packed. However, the future update of this firmware from Google will surely bring a Stable Android O build. Install Android O OPP1 on Google Pixel Using Official Factory Image

We have put together a detailed step-by-step installation guide so that the first time users doesn't face any problem on installing Android O OPP1 Developer Preview on Google Pixel using Factory Image provided by Google.

Please make sure your phone fulfils all the requirements and we recommend you to read this tutorial once before actually performing it on your device. In case you have problem in connecting your phone with computer, make sure USB driver for Google is properly installed.

Tutorial- Step-by-Step:

Step 1: Download Android O OPP1 Factory Image (sailfish-opp1.170223.012-factory-164983f4.zip) for Google Pixel on your Computer.

Step 2: Connect your Google Pixel to Computer using USB cable (provided by Google out of the Box).

Step 3: Download and install the latest Android SDK to your computer from below :

For Windows OS:  Download

For Max OS X:       Download

For Linux:              Download

Important : Make sure to install Android SDK Platform-tools after installing SDK Manager:

Step 4: Now extract the downloaded file on the Desktop of your computer. Open the folder marlin-opp1 and then copy/paste all the files to your Fastboot directory.

Confused with Fastboot Directory? Navigate to android-sdk-windows\platform-tools directory (on your computer).

Step 5: Switch Off your Phone.

Step 6: Now to get in the Bootloader/Fastboot Mode. Switch ON the phone while pressing and holding Volume Up + Volume Down + Power buttons together till you see a FASTBOOT menu and START on top.

Step 7: Open the Folder from your Desktop where you have pasted three files in Step 4 and on Windows: Open Command Prompt (Shift + Right-click > Open Command Prompt). For Mac OS X and Linux, use Terminal to navigate to this directory.

Step 8: From the factory image files in your Fastboot directory, do the following depending which OS you are on:

On Windows: Run the file “flash-all.bat”
On Mac: Run the file “flash-all.sh” using Terminal
On Linux: Run the file “flash-all.sh”

You are done! That's all you had to do for Flashing a Stock Factory Image on your Google Pixel. Now, wait and watch as the process is completed and follow the On-Screen instruction if in case you have to unlock the Bootloader.

Your Google Pixel will boot now and it might take about 5 minutes to boot on your first time after flashing a new Android O Developer Preview Firmware. So, please wait.

That’s it! Your Google Pixel should now have Android O OPP! Developer Preview Factory Image installed on your phone! Go to Settings > About phone to verify.

To Remember :
  • This tutorial is only for installing Android O OPP1 Factory Image on LG Nexus 5X. Please do not try on any other Google or LG variants.
  • Your phone can be on any previous Android version or even on a custom ROM. It doesn’t matter at all. This tutorial will still work for installing Android O Developer Preview.
  • Make Sure your computer should have Nexus USB driver installed properly.
  • This tutorial will wipe out all your data even if your bootloader is still locked or already unlocked. Make sure you backup all your data in your phone before proceeding.
NOTE: Make sure your Android device is charged up to 80-85% battery level. Why? Because, if your phone goes off suddenly while installing a custom ROM, flashing an official firmware update or installing mods, etc. — your phone might get bricked or go dead permanently. No one wants that, right?

Install Android O OPP1 on Nexus 5X Using Official Factory Image

We have put together a detailed step-by-step installation guide so that the first time users doesn't face any problem on installing Android O OPP1 Developer Preview on Nexus 5X using Factory Image provided by Google.

Please make sure your phone fulfils all the requirements and we recommend you to read this tutorial once before actually performing it on your device. In case you have problem in connecting your phone with computer, make sure USB driver for Google is properly installed.

Tutorial- Step-by-Step:

Step 1: Download Android O OPP1 Factory Image (bullhead-opp1.170223.012-factory-338a95b1.zip) for Nexus 5X on your Computer.

Step 2: Connect your Google Nexus 5X to Computer using USB cable (provided by Google out of the Box).

Step 3: Download and install the latest Android SDK to your computer from below :

For Windows OS:  Download

For Max OS X:      Download

For Linux:             Download

Important : Make sure to install Android SDK Platform-tools after installing SDK Manager:

Step 4: Now extract the downloaded file on the Desktop of your computer. Open the folder bullhead-opp1 and then copy/paste all the files to your Fastboot directory.

Confused with Fastboot Directory? Navigate to android-sdk-windows\platform-tools directory (on your computer).

Step 5: Switch Off your Phone.

Step 6: Now to get in the Bootloader/Fastboot Mode. Switch ON the phone while pressing and holding Volume Up + Volume Down + Power buttons together till you see a FASTBOOT menu and START on top.

Step 7: Open the Folder from your Desktop where you have pasted three files in Step 4 and on Windows: Open Command Prompt (Shift + Right-click > Open Command Prompt). For Mac OS X and Linux, use Terminal to navigate to this directory.

Step 8: From the factory image files in your Fastboot directory, do the following depending which OS you are on:

On Windows: Run the file “flash-all.bat”
On Mac: Run the file “flash-all.sh” using Terminal
On Linux: Run the file “flash-all.sh”

You are done! That's all you had to do for Flashing a Stock Factory Image on your Google Nexus 5X. Now, wait and watch as the process is completed and follow the On-Screen instruction if in case you have to unlock the Bootloader.

Your Google Nexus 5X will boot now and it might take about 5 minutes to boot on your first time after flashing a new Android O Developer Preview Firmware. So, please wait.

That’s it! Your LG Nexus 5X should now have Android O OPP! Developer Preview Factory Image installed on your phone! Go to Settings > About phone to verify.
