Google released Android N for their Nexus Devices about Four Month ago. Now the Third developer preview (Android N NPD35K) is available for Nexus 5X. With this easy and Quick tutorial, you can update your Nexus 5X to Android N NPD35K Developer Preview 3 Official Factory Image. We saw Android N originally being announced months back and now at Google I/O 2016, we are finally getting a proper keynote for it as well as an update. The Latest Developer Preview 3 is aimed to provide us solid and enjoyable Android N experience with all new Android N features.

You can Update Nexus 5X to Android N Developer Preview 3 Official Factory Image using this tutorial below. If this will be your first time playing around with a factory image, you might have to unlock your bootloader first before continuing – which means wiping all of your phone data.

As you continue reading below, we will guide you how to install Android N Developer Preview 3 on Nexus 5X. Don’t forget to backup all your apps and personal data as a precaution. HOW TO: Install Android N NPD35K on Nexus 5X Using Official Factory Image

We have put together a detailed step-by-step installation instruction so that the first time users doesn't face any problem on updating LG Nexus 5X to Android N NPD35K Developer Preview 3 using the factory image provided by Google.

Please make sure your phone fulfils all the requirements and we recommend you to read this tutorial once before actually performing it on your device.

Tutorial- Step-by-Step:

Step 1: Download Android N Factory Image (bullhead-npd35k-factory-5ba40535.tgz) for Nexus 5X on your PC.

Step 2: Download and install the latest Android SDK to your computer from below. Make sure ADB and Fastboot are configured properly on your PC.

For Windows OS:  Download
For Max OS X:      Download
For Linux:              Download

Step 3: Connect your Nexus 5X to your computer using the USB cable provided by LG.

Step 4: Switch OFF your phone.

Step 5: Now to get into the Bootloader Mode. Press and hold Volume Up + Volume Down + Power buttons till you see the Fastboot menu and START on top while connecting it again with the USB cable.

Step 6: Now extract the downloaded file on the Desktop of your computer. Open the folder bullhead-NPD35K and then copy/paste all the files to your Fastboot directory.

Confused with Fastboot Directory? Navigate to android-sdk-windows\platform-tools directory (on your computer)

Step 7: From the factory image files in your Fastboot directory, perform the following as per the Operating System of your Computer:
  • On Windows: Run the file "flash-all.bat".
  • On Mac: Run the file "" using Terminal.
  • On Linux: Run the file "".
That's what you need to do in order to install Android N 3rd Developer Preview Official Factory Image on your Google Nexus 5X. Now wait and watch the progress as the process is completed.

NOTE: If your Bootloader is not unlocked, follow the on-screen instructions on your phone to unlock the bootloader.

After the installation completes, please wait for some time. It may take little bit more time for the first boot. Be patience! Nothing wrong is going to happen.

That’s it! Your Nexus 5X should now have Android N NPD35K Developer Preview 3 installed on your phone! Go to Settings > About phone to verify.
