OnePlus has decided to break the silence lasted about two months and now announces a new build of OxygenOS based on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow for OnePlus 2, which is signed OOS 3.0.1. The improvements over the beta released in late March, which we tested at the beginning of April, there are also many changes as you can see from the changelog integral that we present below:
  • Enhanced Doze mode to better optimize battery usage
  • Improvements to the fingerprint sensor for faster and more accurate recognition
  • Added clear process in the recents screen for the option to remove background processes
  • Added feature in recents screen to allow you to lock apps that you don’t want removed with clear all
  • Bug fix in network operator selection to ensure the selection sticks to your choice
  • Swiftkey update to version 6.3.3

NOTE: This build is OTA eligible, which means you will receive the official OTA on this build once it’s ready.

OnePlus says that this is the last update before the official OTA, and there will be no other build test. The Official roll out should start within a few weeks, so we still have to wait. However, those who want to Install OxygenOS 3.0.1 on OnePlus 2, should download the 1.1 GB firmware and then follow the installation guide below.

As you continue reading below, we will guide you how to install OOS 3.0.1 on OnePlus 2. Don’t forget to backup all your apps and personal data as a precaution. Major revamps like these usually have a wipe script with them, meaning, after you finish the update process, your phone will be completely wiped. Now in order to avoid any problems we recommend backing up your data which might include documents, contacts, or even downloads. Let’s continue with the tutorial now.
NOTE: Make sure your Android device is charged up to 80-85% battery level. Why? Because, if your phone goes off suddenly while installing a custom ROM, flashing an official firmware update or installing mods, etc. — your phone might get bricked or go dead permanently. No one wants that, right?

Most of the TWRP Users must be knowing it that by wiping /data they will be lossing all installed Apps. So, I recommend using Titanium Backup Pro to Backup all user apps and restore them after the clean flash. This way, your all apps will remain intact. Clean flash, undoubtedly, is the best way to flash.
